Low-calorie homemade sponge cake recipes: microwave whole wheat cake with nuts

Ingredients

  • 50 ml of olive oil
  • 50 grams of sugar (you can also use a different sweetener, such as stevia)
  • 1 egg
  • 40 ml of water
  • 50 grams of whole wheat flour
  • One teaspoon of yeast
  • Half a dozen chopped walnuts

Instructions

Add olive oil, egg and water in a bowl. Beat well until all 3 ingredients are completely mixed. Then, add the sugar, flour and yeast. Continue to stir well until the ingredients form a dough. Finally, add the nuts and try to spread them throughout the dough.

Pour the dough into a cake pan suitable for microwaves. Silicone pans are very practical because it is not necessary to grease them and they free easily. Set the microwave to maximum power for five minutes. When you take the cake out, puncture it with a toothpick. If the stick comes out clean, the cake has baked sufficiently. If, on the other hand, it is covered in dough, leave the cake in for a couple more minutes.

Finally, let it cool for a few minutes and you’ll be ready to enjoy this delicious, low-calorie, homemade sponge cake. In just 15 minutes, you have made a healthy cake that you can eat and enjoy without cheating on your diet.

Low-calorie yogurt cake

Ingredients

  • 150 grams of oatmeal
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
  • One teaspoon of yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 3 egg whites
  • A low-fat yogurt (it can have a flavor, it does not have to be natural)

Instructions

First, mix the eggs, the egg whites, and the yogurt. Once the 3 are completely mixed, add the flour, cinnamon and yeast. Stir well until the dough is uniform and has a creamy texture.

Pour the dough into a silicone mold and put it in the oven. Make sure the oven is preheated to a temperature of 170 degrees Celsius (around 340 degrees Fahrenheit). In 15 minutes, the cake should be ready.

We recommend that you experiment with different flavors of yogurts. Strawberry and lemon give this cake a great touch. If you change the flavors regularly, you will never tire of baking these cakes. Additionally, any little ones in the house will love them.

Light carrot sponge cake

Another type of low-calorie homemade sponge cake is a light carrot cake, a healthy recipe that children love. We recommend that you bake a large cake that your little ones can munch on for a healthy snack that will give them the energy to do their homework.

Carrot Sponge Cake

Ingredients

  • 3 carrots
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of yeast
  • 100 ml of extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 low-fat natural yogurts
  • 200 grams of flour
  • 1 teaspoon of stevia

Instructions

Start by peeling the carrots and grating them. Depending on your preference, you can use a big or a small grater. Place the carrots in a bowl and add olive oil, eggs, yeast, oil, and stevia. Once everything is mixed, add the flour, little by little, so that the dough absorbs it. Finally, add the 2 natural yogurts.

With this recipe, we do not recommend that you use flavored yogurts. This is because you are making a carrot cake and other flavors could hide this or give an unpleasant result.

Finally, put the cake in the preheated oven at a temperature of 170 degrees Celcius (around 340 degrees Fahrenheit). After 40 minutes, the cake will be ready.
