If you don’t like going to the gym, struggle to find an hour each day to work out, or if you prefer working out alone, you need to know about the best exercise apps. There are different types of apps that won’t let you use the rain, cold weather, or the no time for the gym, as excuses. What’s more, you can even work out using the best exercise apps while watching television!

The best exercise apps

You can download any of the following apps to your cell phone and enjoy a workout every day. By exercising half an hour each day, you’ll get great results in just a few weeks’ time.

1. Sworkit Lite

This free app is available for Android and iOS and provides a work out, as if you had a personal trainer with you. It offers a wide variety of exercises and you can specify what you’re looking for. For example: strength training, stretching, yoga, cardio, etc.

Once you select how long you’d like to exercise for, videos appear with professional athletes giving you detailed instructions. In addition, it records your results and alerts you when it’s time for your workout.

2. Seven Minute Workout

Short on time to exercise? No sweat! This fitness app is perfect for you, because you’ll only need seven minutes to get through a routine. And the best part is, you’ll still work all of your major muscle groups!

You perform each exercise for 30 seconds, followed by 10 seconds of rest. Furthermore, you can choose from “blocks” of exercise to target your abs, glutes, or a mix of everything.

3. Workout Trainer by Skimble

It’s one of the best exercise apps–if you like workouts that require more physical exertion, such as: CrossFit, HIIT, and tabata. It has videos for every exercise and takes you through each step. In addition, you can select your personal goal (weight loss, six-pack abs, muscle gain) and you can even listen to your music playlists while you exercise.

4. 30 Day Challenge

Like its name suggests, this app offers a month-long, daily exercise plan. Every session becomes harder, for better results.

There are three workout categories: glutes, abs, and total body. In addition, there are three levels of difficulty: beginners, intermediate, and advanced. The challenge is being able to work out for 30 consecutive days.

5. Freeletics Bodyweight

You don’t need any specific equipment to use this app, besides appropriate clothing and your cell phone. It offers many fitness plans with different levels of difficulty so you can exercise at home.

Furthermore, you can compare your personal records to improve your fitness level and compare them to those of others as well. In addition, if you use iOS you can save your progress and monitor the calories that you burned, your workout duration, and so much more. Available in the Apple Health app.

6. Push-up workout

If your goal is to have arms like The Rock, then this app is for you. It helps you to count the number of push-ups that you do during a session. Also, it tracks how many calories you’ve burned. It has six different exercise levels and of course, many routines, so you won’t get bored.

And now that you’re working on getting Hollywood pecs and arms, how about targeting your abs? This app shows you videos of an instructor doing exercises, step-by-step.

Just press the pause button if you need to rest. You can also repeat an exercise if you enjoyed it, or if you couldn’t keep up before.

8. Cody

Finally, this fitness video app is based on the notion that every person should exercise according to their goals and fitness level. You can choose a workout that’s suitable for your needs and learn how to perform the exercises through detailed images.

You can also save your progress, add pictures, and notes about your sessions. Furthermore, you can monitor your progress in the style of Instagram.
