2. Mercedes: one of the best F1 teams in history
We all know the Mercedes Benz brand, both on and off the F1 track. In the sport, Mercedes debuted at the 1954 French Grand Prix. The German, Norbert Haug founded the team and they currently have two bases: one in Stuttgart (in Germany) and the other in Brackley (in England).
Although, with fewer victories than Ferrari, Mercedes is still a winning team. In fact, their drivers have achieved five championships, 95 victories, and 192 podiums. 3. McLaren
The official name of this award-winning team is McLaren Racing Limited . It all started in the British city of Woking in 1963 where the former driver and engineer, Bruce McLaren founded the team under his name.
This is still one of the best F1 teams in history! Their record includes 12 championships, 182 victories, 485 podiums, and 155 pole positions, all after having competed in more than 800 races. Since McLaren only started racing in the 1966 Monaco Grand Prix, this is impressive!
Among those who’ve driven a McLaren car, we can highlight famous drivers such as Emerson Fittipaldi and Niki Lauda. Others such as James Hunt, Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Kimi Raikkonen, Lewis Hamilton, and Fernando Alonso have also driven McLaren cars. 4. Williams
The full name of this team is Williams Grand Prix Engineering, although everyone knows them as Williams. Frank Williams and Patrick Head founded it in Grove, England. The F1 debut of the Williams team was at the 1975 Argentine Grand Prix.
During Williams’s history, seven drivers have been champions: Alan Jones, Keke Rosberg, Nigel Mansell, Nelson Piquet, Alain Prost, Jacques Villeneuve, and Damon Hill. In addition, the team has garnered 128 pole positions, 114 wins, and 302 podiums in 685 races. Their current drivers are Canadian, Lance Stroll, and the Russian, Sergey Sirotkin.
5. Red Bull
Weirdly enough, a big energy drink company owns another of F1’s best teams in history! This company purchased Jaguar Racing before the Ford Motor Company withdrew it from the ultimate motorsport circuit.
Currently, Red Bull Racing is based in Faenza, Italy as well as in Milton Keynes, England. The president and founder of the team is the Austrian, Dietrich Mateschitz. This is still a relatively new team, having their first race in the 2005 Australian Grand Prix.
This team has won four championships, 59 podiums, 155 victories, and 160 pole positions in 259 races. Today’s drivers are Australian, Daniel Ricciardo and Belgian, Max Verstappen.
