Myths about food have always been present in our society. In fact, uncertainty and lack of information are some of the reasons why eating habits are moving in the wrong direction.

1.-Eating after 6 pm is a bad idea

The first myth about food that we are going to reveal is one of the most widespread. However, it’s totally wrong that eating after 6 pm is a bad option. Keep in mind that your body has no idea what time it is!

For this reason, it doesn’t matter if it’s 6 pm or 8 pm, the important point is to ensure that the amount of calories you eat does not exceed more than you need. Remember, if you want to lose weight, the best method to achieve this is to eat more often, preferably at fixed times and in small quantities.

2.-Spinach is rich in iron

Secondly, we uncover another myth that has accompanied many children throughout their childhood. Although, it is probably also the reason why many meals have been finished!  However, spinach isn’t a food that’s particularly rich in iron.

In fact, spinach provides a very low level of iron in comparison to other foods, so it is not enough to cover your entire needs. You’ll find this mineral in red meats, in thyme, clams, cockles or legumes such as lentils.

3.-Candy is forbidden

The more you deprive yourself of food, the more you risk increasing the sense of frustration that leads to excesses. Ultimately, this can produce the opposite effect and impede weight loss.

Therefore, it’s important to indulge in small treats from time to time. If you want to plan an outing to your favorite restaurant or eat some candy, you can always compensate by increasing the frequency of your workouts. You’ll preserve your caloric deficit while you savor your favorite dish or dessert. So, if you want to indulge in a sugary treat, we recommend you intensify your physical training.

4.-Frozen vegetables contain fewer nutrients

Fresh vegetables that are eaten after harvesting obviously contain more nutrients. However, the longer the time between harvesting and consuming, the fewer vitamins and minerals there will be.

In contrast, this problem does not occur with frozen vegetables, as they are generally frozen immediately after harvest to preserve their visual appearance and nutritional qualities. It’s obvious that they lose some vitamins in the freezing process, but still retain others. As a result, frozen vegetables are often richer in nutrients than some fresh vegetables.

5.-Sugar creates addiction

Fifth on our list is sugar and the myths surrounding it. You should know that it’s a reality that sugar creates addiction. Keep in mind that although sugar is not essential, it provides a sense of pleasure in the brain. It’s true that sugar doesn’t cause physical dependence, but its consumption causes fluctuations in blood sugar, which can cause cravings or loss of energy when it’s not consumed. Therefore, we recommend you eat sugary products in moderation.

6.-Skipping lunch makes you lose weight

Finally, we reveal the myth of skipping lunch with the goal of losing weight. Keep in mind that skipping lunch forces the metabolism to slow down to save fuel. By doing so, it stores fat. In addition, the omission of the first calorie intake favors cravings. In the long term, this can lead to being overweight or even double the risk of obesity.
