Salmon is a type of oily fish from the Salmonidae family, and it lives in both fresh and salt water. It has a long body that’s covered with small scales and its meat is a light pink color. In this article we’ll discuss a few recipe ideas that use this fish.

Baked orange salmon

Ingredients:

  • One salmon fillet
  • One orange
  • One lemon
  • A rosemary twig
  • One garlic clove
  • One tablespoon of honey
  • One teaspoon of mustard
  • One teaspoon of honey
  • Half an onion

To make this dish you must follow the next steps:

First of all, cut three orange slices and put them aside to decorate the baked salmon. Also mince the garlic and dice the onion.

After that, squeeze the orange and lemon juice and mix it with the onion, garlic, mustard, honey and salt.

Marinate -leaving a food, (especially fish) for a while in some sort of sauce or marinade will season it or preserve it. Marinate the salmon fillet in the mixture for ten or fifteen minutes, and once that time has passed, put the fillet on a baking tray.

Place a few rosemary sprigs over the fish. You can also decorate it with a slice of fruit. When you’re finished, put the salmon in the oven with some orange and lemon juice. Don’t forget to preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, for at least fifteen minutes before cooking.

Cooking time will depend on the power of your oven. Don’t forget to place a sheet of baking paper between the tray and the salmon, so that the fish doesn’t stick. Finally, you can serve it with asparagus, steamed rice or grilled vegetables as a side dish.

Smoked salmon rolls with cheese and shrimp

Ingredients:

  • 60 grams of smoked salmon
  • 50 grams of cooked shrimp
  • 100 grams of fresh cheese
  • Two slices of bread
  • Two cherry tomatoes
  • Chives
  • A dash of olive oil
  • A pinch of salt
  • A pinch of black pepper

To make this dish you must follow the next steps:

First you have to put three smoked salmon fillets on a plate and spread them with the fresh cheese. After that, place the shrimp on the top.

Next, roll up the salmon fillets leaving the shrimp and fresh cheese inside and put them on the slices of toasted bread.

For the dressing, chop the cherry tomatoes and the chives. Mix them in a bowl together with some olive oil, salt and black pepper to taste.

Finally, pour the dressing on top of the rolls with fresh cheese and shrimp and you’re ready to serve.

Note: This recipe can be modified. For example, you can put shrimp tail instead of shrimp or use another type of cheese, depending on your taste. We’ll also explain how we can make smoked salmon at home so that you don’t have to buy it already smoked.

Smoked salmon

Ingredients:

  • 200 grams of salmon
  • Three dry bay leaves
  • Five grams of dried thyme
  • Four grams of dried oregano
  • 100 grams of uncooked rice
  • 20 milliliters of sunflower oil

And now we’ll explain how to make it:

Firstly, put aluminum foil in a pan -to keep it from burning- and add in the thyme, oregano, uncooked rice and bay leaves.

Then wait until the point when the rice starts to burn and, cover with a grid. Place the salmon and a little bit of sunflower oil together, on top of the grid.

After the previous step, lower the heat and cover the fish with aluminum foil and a lid to prevent the smoke from escaping. Let it sit there for approximately seven minutes, so that it’s well smoked.
